Gum Life for Viking Plate Processors

Technical Bulletin TRM/95

Tech Service recommends the following gum change procedures for Model 1133 and 1160 Viking™plate processors.

WARNING! DO NOT PERFORM THE GUM CHANGE PROCEDURE WITHOUT DISCONNECTING PROCESSOR FROM MAIN POWER SOURCE UNLESS INSTRUCTED TO DO SO. IF POWER IS NOT DISCONNECTED, YOU MAY BE EXPOSED TO ELECTRICAL SHOCK FROM LIVE COMPON- ENTS OR INJURY FROM MOVING PARTS.

* For Model 1133 and 1160 processors with a water supply and floor drain, change gum after every developer change.

* For Model 1133 and 1160 processors without a water supply or floor drain, change gum after every two weeks or 1250 square feet (116 square meters) of plate material processed.

* For Model 1133 and 1160 processors using makeup in the rinse station, change gum after every developer change.


Gum Change Procedure

1. Turn off the POWER switch.

2. Open the gum drain valve on the back of the processor.

3. Slide the gum bottle out of the bracket and drain the old gum into a pail.

4. Clean the gum bottle with warm water.

5. Clean the gum sump with warm water.

6. Close the gum drain valve on the back of the processor.

7. Fill the gum sump and gum bottle with Viking™ gum.
